Udo doesn’t look quite like his later self here; these early pages were drawn before he was modeled on a close friend and colleague. This set the model for so many of my Fs & Cs ending up on the pages of the Peach as characters. More than once, I hooked people who thought they didn’t like the series by giving them a walk-on. After that, they couldn’t get enough!

Who was Corporal Dobermann based on? I always figured Steve Galacci, or maybe Jim Groat?
Somewhere I have a pic of Donna behind a table at Center Con, probably 1985 or early 1986 (before issue #1 came out), alongside the Desert Peach standup. Must find that. Gods, we were all so much younger then! (I was in college.)
That’s Jim! He actually had a gutted land-mine, the model for “Fridl.” Lord, yes, we were such children then. Not that anybody’s matured much, really!
Oh, I never said we’ve matured! Hah!
When we grow up is when we get old.
